tidbits

Last night Cat and I were up till 1am talking. It felt like no sooner had I just started dozing off, then Bear is crawling over us to come cuddle with me. No sooner had he settled then Munchkin woke up very unhappy. At first I just stayed put. then I took Bear back to his bed and tried to talk to and cuddle with Munchkin. He didn't want me and was kicking me on purpose. I went back to my bed. He continues being loud, I go back to his bed, the other side this time, and he kicks me again. He really doesn't want me. So back to my bed, still loud. Cat decides to go cuddle with Munchkin and that is what he wants evidently. I guess the fact that Papa had been there when he went to sleep, but not when he woke up, was making things worse. Bear crawls back into my bed. I got to Cat's position, so I can move Bear to his bed once he is asleep, but that doesn't happen. Eventually Munchkin is back asleep and cat comes back to bed, Bear and i move over, bear is congested and snoring. I put him back in his bed on his stomach, since he was snoring on his back, ah quiet! then back to my bed for a little sleep.

Morning came too quickly!

Bear can count to 3. This morning he even showed he knows what that means. He brought me 1 packet of hot cocoa and said "one," then he brought me the other and said "two." there was only two so there was no oportunity for him to say three.

He also knows the word chocolate.

Last night Cat finished his second 1:1,000 scale paper constellation class starship. (ST: TOS Enterprise, but this is the Farragut) and so he wanted pictures with the boys. Enterprise, Farragut, and the new movie DVD case all come out. Munchkin identifies them all as Enterprise or Spaceship, Bear just manages "Ship."
Munchkin correctly identifies the movie DVD case as "Movie Enterprise"

raising up the next generation of Geeks!

Some what Cat and I talked about last night was Christmas. He is trying to ignore it because his fondest memories are flying little Millennium Falcons in the tree, and so he still wants to do that. Maybe in a few years we will get a tree and a Falcon for him?

The Easter Report

On Friday Hubby had a surprise day off.
He picked up the rental car that afternoon and we went out to JoAnns for some Supplies. New patterns!
Bear cub isn't used to riding in cars so he got a bit upset. the little Kia would not permit me to sit between the two car seats so I spent a bit of the ride passing crackers back to the baby bear.
Saturday we were intending to go out to Miniature golf, but the course near us was demolished last summer. Instead we went to Central park and played on the playground equipment and fed ducks. I had books to pick up at the library too. Munchkin wasn't happy to leave the playground equipment and so he ran away from us as we walked to the library. His Papa followed him and eventually aske "where's Mom" when I was out of sight. This worried Munchkin and he came to find me. so that worked out well.
We watched Baron Munchousen and were still up at 11 when my dad called to give me the news that my grandfather had passed.
Sunday we met up with Aunt and Uncle at Kennedy Park
We rode the train.
We rode the Merry-go-round, which munchkin liked a lot! we put both boys on little horses that didn't go up and down.
Pictures )
We fed the goats which startled them, and made bear cub very upset. we was a bit on edge for the rest of the day.
Picture )

Then back to Aunt and Uncles for lunch. Dimwits we parents are we forgot the highchair! BUT there was a stool, and I had my sling, so we straped him to that, worked GREAT! We gave him jello in a bowl and he had fun with it, though I don't think he actually managed to get any in his mouth, wily jellow kept escaping the spoon.
Then the Munchkin found the baskets, and we went out to find eggs.
I spied an egg at Bear's level and tried to get him to go after it. It was in a flower busk, he would have none of that bush! in fact he would have none of the grass! so eventually I found an egg up in a tree that was above his brother's heigh and he got that one down. and it was his egg. he spent the rest of the time sitting on the walk ratting his egg.
Munchkin found the eggs and collected them into his basket. so much better than last year when he was putting them out of his basket!
It didn't take long for Munchkin to discover there was candy in the plastic eggs. We had put the basket of eggs in the house and he went in and brought them out one by one and ate the candy. Now the largest eggs had Marshmellow Peeps in them. He didn't seem to think they were edible. He opened one large egg up and was confused. put it back, got another large egg, and found it was another peep! The third time we tried to take video of this, but he droped it and when I took a bite and offered it to him, he still wouldnt have it. Neither would bear cub.
More Pictures )
We also tried flying Munchkin's kite and blowing bubles and fun things like that.
Munchkin also attacked the 3D puzzle of the capitol building more than once.
Munchkin refuses to talk when others are around, silly boy.

Baby logic

I don't always understand the reasoning of little children.
I noticed it was quite, so I went to find muchkin curled up in his bed, soak wet and asleep. I woke him up and changed him. he then refused the new pair of pants. I took him to the kitchen and offered him variouse foods. he picked the cod liver oil! Then after more screaming he choose a bagel, I take one out and slice it and put it in the toaster. (they were in the fridge) he gets upset and runs away. so I take the last one to him cold and unsliced. He refuses it so I set it on the table out of the reach of TJ. I then eat the toasted bagel. Eventually he goes and eats his bagel. but sees me with mine and stand at my side looking very wolf like. I get down to the last bite and give it to him, He takes a small bite out of it and then hands it back, and goes back to eat his. I give the last bit of mine to TJ.
I guess he just needed a token bite of mine?

kids

Munchkin's vocabulary has been growing by leaps and bounds. of course he is talking like a child of at least a year younger than his age, but he is definatly talking. Bear cub is also making noises, he is trying hard to say "Up". He enjoys turning off light switches, and flushing toilets. He also plays peak-a-boo. I even have video to upload. likely tomorrow.

what to give the boys

This is a public post!
Tj's first b-day is coming up in 2 months, then in 4 months, Munchkin will turn 3.
We have lots of toys, so here is a short list of things that they actually could use.

Smart Cycle Cartridges. I am sure that Munchkin would love the Thomas the Train one, I would rather not have Elmo or Sponge Bob, the Hot Wheels one might be a bit too old for him.

Wooden Trains, well actually more track. A turn table would be fun. I respectfully ask that no Thomas figures show up. I don't like their faces. and please no itty-bitty acesories for the safety of the little brother.

We have enough of the largest scale mega bloks. Of the middle size, Munchkin does like the Disney Cars ones he has, he has McQueen and Mator. but those sometimes have pieces that are too small for little brother.

Munchkin is getting into Hot Wheels.

If you hadn't guessed Munchkin likes Disney's Cars movie and Thomas the Train.  So cars and trains are good, he also likes airplanes, but we only have one airplane toy.

As for clothing, TJ is in 12-18 months, so don't get him anything smaller than 18 months. Munchkin is in 3T.

munchkin speak

I am translating danish, and so I am calling out the leters as I look them up in the dictionary.
Every once in a while Munchkin will repeat after me.
Me "OPM"
Munchkin "P"
Me "yes P"
He runs off an find the magnetic leter P to bring me as he says "P"

how cool is that!

Edit!
Dude! he is reciting the alphabet back to me, with a childish lisp, but dude!

tired of these yet?

video of Munchkin showing TJ how to crawl.
Shot from behind as they are both such camera whores that I was sure they would stop if I got in front of them.

boys, home, some sewing

I have hikys on my shoulder from TJ. And can anyone tell me how he gets drool running down his back when sitting up?
Speeking of TJ the elfkin, he rolls over and tries to army crawl. He is a robust little guy. The other day he was on the ground, Munchkin bypassed the vacuum (he is lossing his fear of it, playing with it) and Munchkin was standing on Tj's stomach. Tj's cry was a "I'm not happy" not a "pain!" TJ is also trying to pull himself up to sitting when he has your hands, head ans shoulders are off the ground.
I think I will make TJ a short dress for dickens as he is likely to be at least starting to crawl by then. Even though I do think long white gowns are cute!
I tried the regency gown on him, too cute! so sad he won't get a chance to wear it!

Hubby's office is finaly in the process of moving (what 2 years late?) and we now have the old reception are seating in our garage. It is actually a rather nifty retro piece. The base has a skatted bed, and two chairs and a table nestle into the slats. so you can rearange them. I was thinking it might make a good bed tof TJ in a while as it is narrower than a twin at about 24" and I already have foam mats that would fit on it....
We also scorwed some wood slats from the dumpster, was an Ikea futon thing I think. the slats are stapled to twill tape. good wood not going to the landfill yet!

I put some more of my books on library thing. (corsetra)

randomitis

Woot wrote a museum about a costume in their collection, without an acession number yesterday and got a reply! they even offered scaled patterns from this garment! Not all museums suck, it seams. Of course it is a british museum, not the Met

Tj slept through the night last night! but boy did the cow need milking after 8 hours! He is a drooler, but that may be because of the hot weather we are having.

Munchkin is not so afraid of the vacume to bypas it to come into the sewing room, I even turned it on and he still comes in!

Munchkin climbs in and out of the play pen with help from chairs. Yesterday he was bouncing the toy we have dangling in it for TJ to practice punching off the mesh sides and they were laughing like crazy.

Did I say it was hot?

Night of doom

Munchkin didn't take a nap yesterday besides dozzing on the way home from midwife.
After a lovely dinner of BBQ lamb (in which I got a wire brush bristle, thankfully Munchkin didn't get that bite, ouch!) We corraled him in the bedroom so Auntie could do her homework. I read aloud a bit and by 8:00 he was out.
He woke up several times, climbing over Hubby and snuggling, eventually kicking me out of the bed. The third time I saw his head pop up I said "No, you sleep in your own bed" to which he wimpered and laid back down and went to sleep. Hubby says Munchkin woke up more than that as he rubbed the dude's back to get him back out.
I tossed and turned all night finding it hard to get comfortable and with the right amount of blankets.

Some Munchkin funnies
Yesterday for one of his calm diaper changes, I said "diaper change time" he looked at me, went the opposite direction, picked up a book, and went past me to lay on his bed for his change. Reminded me of his Papa who likes to read books while on the toilet.
He brook a plate last night, hubby cleaned up, I coraled the dude in the bedroom.
This morning he decided that he was going to feed himself yogurt. I will leave you with a mental image of yogurty walrus tusks dripping from the corner of his mouth.

la di da di

Went to SF yesterday, boys went to see the ships, girls did some shopping. I got a book on history of children (Images of Childhood) and a spider pin (for next years corset project) at a second hand shop, very nice one by the way.
We meet the boys at the maritime book store just before closing and were there till 45 mins after closing talking to the guy who was running it. Boat people, ya know. got free art prints, very nice. the shop keeper wants to get rid of the crap that they sell and bring in more stuff actually related to SF's maritime history. now this museum/gift shop has the least amount of crappy SF gifts of them all, so that is saying something. Bro-in-law needs to e-mail pics of his boat to the guy, and probably a list of good books to keep in the shop. (we bought mostly books!)

In other news, Munchkin is a doll most of the time, he still gets bored in the car, but not so much since he now faces forward. We have been trying to keep him from having a nap so he goes down for bed without giving us an hour long "concert"

munchkin 2.0 (new baby) was kicking my bladder yesterday, so not fun! normally kicks the left side, but still moves around a lot. We need to take belly pics.

Today sis-in-law goes down south for a friends Solstice celebration, will return on Sunday, which means I am not going to Dickens on Saturday as I have no car!

Amusing Munchkin photos

well Munchkin's first top tooth has pushed its way through the gum. I expect the other one to follow in a couple of days as you can see it very clearly through the gums.

Munckin terror

He's not crawling yet but already he is wrecking terror. more than once he has pushed the restart button on my tower. mostly with his feet.
And he has a new trick!
He has just started (in the past day or so) to push up on hands and feet! kinda silly looking. diaper butt way in the air.
